Local Events

This is a list of the annual events that we sponsor, participate in, or host at the Fire Station. We thought it might be helpful to have these listed out for the entire year, with general information here. Watch the "reader board" both at the Fire Station, and to the right here on the website, for dates and time.

February - Jefferson County Rabies & Dog License Clinic

At the Fire Station. Licenses for Jefferson County Residents only. Rabies vaccine available (current rabies vaccination valid thru current year required for license). License fee is less expensive for "altered" dogs (must provide proof) and more expensive for "unaltered" dogs. For shot and license cost, contact Jefferson County Animal Control.

March - Daylight Savings Time

Begins At 2:00 AM. Remember to set your clocks ahead 1 hour. This is also a great time to change your smoke alarm batteries! If you have questions about smoke detectors, need assistance changing batteries, have smoke detectors that do not work, or know of someone who needs assistance or additional smoke detectors, please contact the Fire District Office at 923-6776. (See "Contact Us" on this site for contact information)

March/April - Annual CRR Easter Egg Hunt.

Each year, the Volunteer Fire Association and the Fire Auxiliary sponsor an Easter Egg Hunt for children on the Ranch. The Auxiliary "stuffs" about 5000 plastic eggs each year. This event is held in the area of the ballpark, off Chinook, North of the Trading Post. The area will be divided into 4 age groups. We will have a fenced-in area for both the 2 year old and under group, and 3 & 4 year old group; a "light brush" area for the 5-8 year olds; and a "heavy brush" area for the 9-12 year olds. We use plastic eggs, which we stuff with candy. We ask that you please return the plastic eggs to us after your children have taken out the candy. We plan to start the "hunt" promptly at 10:00 AM. All age groups go at the same time, so please plan to have your children there by 9:30 AM so they can get into the appropriate staging area for their age group. Mark your calendar, bring your kids, and see how fast 5000+ eggs can be picked up!

April - Jefferson Country Sheriff's Office "Boat Safety Inspections"

At the Fire Station - 10 AM to 4 PM.

May - Lions Club Mobile Health Screening Unit.

At the Fire Station. This is a "FREE" service brought to you by the Crooked River Ranch Lions Club. Screenings will be available for visual acuity, hearing, blood pressure, diabetes and glaucoma.

July - "Touch - A -Truck"

McPhearson Park. We plan to have one of our Fire Engines, an Ambulance, and a light Brush Truck available. We also hope to have the AirLife helicopter there too, but they have not yet confirmed. Please bring your children. This is a great opportunity for them (and you) to "climb aboard" Fire Apparatus and an Ambulance, and to learn more about Fire Apparatus, the Fire Department and Fire Safety. Everyone Welcome!

July 4 - Fireworks!

8:00 PM - 11:00 PM. Bring your 4th of July LEGAL FIREWORKS to the parking area in front of the Ranch Chapel. CRR Fire & Rescue will be on hand with fire apparatus to provide a safe environment for those who would like to enjoy everyone's fireworks. We ask that you do not shoot off fireworks in your yard. Even the legal fireworks can start a fire. Remember, you are liable for any damage to neighboring properties.

July 4th Weekend

4th of July Parade Starts at 10:00 AM. The parade will start in the CRR RV Park, down Hayes and Chinook, thru "downtown" Crooked River Ranch, to the Ranch Chapel area. The Parade is in conjunction with the CRR Lions Club's Annual Buffalo Burger Feed in MacPherson Park. The Ranch Chapel will have a "jump tent" for the children. December - Annual CRR Olde Fashioned Christmas

December - Annual Holiday Toy and Food Drive

December is the month for the Annual Holiday Toy and Food Drive for needy families on the Ranch.

This year, as it was last year, we will be handling all phases of the Holiday Toy and Food Drive on the Ranch. This is a major project for us, and we need your help: We need your donations of non-perishable foods (canned and boxed items) to put together a complete holiday meal, and toys for the children who otherwise would not receive any presents at Christmas. If you donate toys, please be sure they are new toys, and please do not wrap them - the Fire Auxiliary will wrap the presents. That way, we can better match the gift to the child. We will have drop off points set up at the Fire Station, Sandbagger, Ranch Association Office, Ranch Chapel, and the Trading Post. We also collect new only bicycles (boys and girls) for Christmas presents. Also, please - no clothes!

The Volunteer Fire Association will be purchasing the perishable items such as turkeys, bread, milk, etc.

You are more than welcome to donate money toward this effort! The Volunteer Fire Association is a not-for-profit, and all donations are tax deductible.

Collection starting and ending dates will be announced.

We also plan to make our food and toy deliveries earlier this year, along with allowing recipients to pick up their own food and toys on December 22nd or 23rd. Volunteer Fire Association members will deliver the meals and toys to the needy families on December 23rd. We feel that this will allow folks more time to plan their Christmas meal.
