About
In 1978, property owners of Crooked River Ranch
formed the Crooked River Ranch Rural Fire Protection District (CRRRFPD).
Prior to that time there was no fire protection or medical services
available to those who lived or played at the Ranch.
When the District was originally formed, it was staffed entirely by
volunteers. With the exception of a few part-time and full-time
staff, the District still relies heavily on volunteers to carry out
its duties of fire prevention & protection, emergency medical
services, and search & rescue. We currently have seventeen volunteer
members, six of whom are also State Certified EMT Basics. It is
these members that make up the Crooked River Ranch Volunteer Fire
Association, sponsors of this web site.
In addition to those of us that make up the Volunteer Fire
Association, the publicly elected members of the Board of Directors
of the Fire District, members of the Fire Auxiliary, Budget
Committee, and other groups that assist the District also serve in a
volunteer capacity.
As volunteers, we take time from our families and work to attend
weekly drills, weekend training, & various meetings. In addition, we
conduct the annual Ranch brush clean up, sponsor the annual Easter
Egg hunt, host the annual Halloween party for Ranch children, and of
course hold fundraisers such as our annual breakfast and the Grange
steak dinner. This year (2004), we held the First Annual Head
Shaving Fundraiser for the Sara Fischer Cancer Foundation, and
raised over $2200. With all of this on our plates, we still find
time to respond on fire, rescue, and medical calls. We do this
because we want to. We do this because it is our way of giving back
to the place we call our home – Crooked River Ranch.
We know that few residents are aware of the volunteer time
commitment. We hope to keep you better informed with this web site.
The home page lists the number of calls we’ve responded to in the
current month, and a total for the year. We hope to keep it updated
weekly.
It is your support, both financially and otherwise, that gives each
of us the motivation to keep trying harder to serve you better.
We all appreciate a “pat on the back”, and we thank you for each
“pat” that you give us.
Sincerely,
The Crooked River Ranch Fire District Volunteers |
